Best Crossover SUVs for 2021

Crossover is a new word applied to some SUVs. They often have lower ride height, better ride quality, flexible interiors, and more car-like shapes than traditional ones. We’ve compiled a list of the best ones for 2021. Take a look and take your time in order to come to the right decision.

2021 Mazda CX-9

The 2021 Mazda CX-9 is near the top of the midsize SUV class because of its dynamic performance and handling and its high-class cabin. The performance is class-leading, with an energetic engine and a perfect blend of ride comfort and sportiness. You’re also getting elegant cabin materials and intuitive infotainment controls. The materials are so nice that critics compare it to a luxury vehicle like Lexus. The touch screen is big and responsive, with great graphics. It also rates highly for crash safety and has a lot of standard active safety features. The physical controls are also well-placed. The bad sides are its small cargo hold and subpar passenger space.

2021 Honda CR-V

This is a very good crossover SUV. We think it has the best combination of quality and value. You’ll be pleased by the high-quality materials in its luxurious cabin. It also has a huge cargo hold and a spacious rear seat.

This Honda’s performance is well-rounded, with quick acceleration and great fuel economy. There are some bad sides you should keep in mind, like the fact that there are few infotainment features, and the optional touch-screen system isn’t user-friendly. Compared to Mazda CX-5, for example, this one is less entertaining from behind the wheel, but the pleasant ride makes up for it.

2021 Hyundai Palisade

This Hyundai is an excellent SUV with a lot of good qualities. It was a finalist for our 2021 Best 3-Row SUV for Families award because of its great combination of cargo and passenger space, reliability and safety ratings, available family-friendly features, and positive reviews from automotive journalists. It has roomy seating for up to eight people. It’ll also surprise you with its luxurious interior and large cargo hold. The seats are very comfortable too! You’ll get many tech and safety features like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and forward-collision warning. This is one of those rare vehicles with no bigger flaws.

2021 Mazda CX-5

The Mazda CX-5 is a very good compact SUV. It’s one of the most fun-to-drive newcomers in the class. Medium-sized with five seats, it’s a very important vehicle for the brand. Its engaging handling and refined interior might be enough to make you consider buying it. It comes with many standard safety features and a revamped infotainment system. The cargo space doesn’t really offer much, so that can be seen as a bad side you need to be aware of. The interior makes it feel like a luxury vehicle – there are upscale materials all over the place. It also comes with a 187-horsepower four-cylinder engine.

2021 Kia Sportage

This time we can start with bad quality. This Kia Sportage isn’t the most fuel-efficient SUV you can get and has a small cargo area, but it still scores high for other qualities like good predicted reliability rating, style, adult-friendly seating, upscale cabin, and sportiness.

It offers a lot of space in both rows and a user-friendly infotainment system that comes standard with smartphone integration. It has a big list of standard safety features. It was a finalist for our 2021 Best Compact SUV for the Money award, thanks to its combination of quality and value. The balanced ride is one more plus.

2021 Nissan Rogue

Nissan’s Rogue received a very needed redesign for this great 2021 model. We think this has been successful. You’re getting more attractive styling, improved performance, and modernized interior tech.

There are two rows of welcoming seats. The performance isn’t very inspiring, we have to admit, but the crossover gets great fuel economy and adept ride-and-handling. Some other things that are a pleasant surprise are larger infotainment screens, wireless device charging, wireless Apple CarPlay, and tri-zone automatic climate control. The interior design is sharp and modern, and there’s a good amount of soft-touch materials. Another plus is the straightforward infotainment system.

2021 Chevrolet Equinox

This is one handsome crossover great for family-hauling. Perhaps its greatest quality is the perfect predicted reliability rating, but it doesn’t excel in any other area. The cabin is roomy and has space for five passengers. With the back seats upright, you’ll get plenty of space for several suitcases. The interior materials are kind of uninspiring, though, and the cargo volume is just average. The focus of the cabin is more on durability than luxury. You’ll have great fuel economy from the base engine, but acceleration is below average. All in all, you might prefer to look at Honda CR-V or Mazda CX-5 if you’re a driving enthusiast.

2021 Kia Telluride

What makes this three-row crossover great is the fact that it looks more expensive than it is, and it’s great for shuttling families. It has an upscale, stylish interior with high-end materials. The design is modern and clear-cut. It also offers airy seating space for up to eight passengers and big cargo hold. It’s loaded with safety features like blind-spot monitoring and automatic emergency braking. It also offers a user-friendly infotainment system. Popular features like Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are standard for all models. We named it the 2021 Best 3-Row SUV for Families because of its combination of safety and reliability ratings, passenger space and cargo room, family-friendly features, and positive reviews. It’s also a finalist for our 2021 Best 3-Row SUV for the Money award.

All in all, this Telluride is very comfortable and relaxing for daily driving. The lengthy 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty is just one more plus. We’ll admit that it could be a little more fuel-efficient, but it still moves people and their stuff better than anything in its class.

We hope we’ve helped you with this list. Good luck and take your time while deciding!
